ModemPay Payment Gateway

Gambia hosted checkout aggregator (cards, mobile money) via ModemPay Payment Intents. Customer is redirected to a ModemPay-hosted payment page in the same browser tab; the signed charge.succeeded webhook (x-modem-signature, HMAC-SHA512) is the source of truth, with a status re-query as a backstop if a webhook is lost.

Setup guidance

  1. Create a ModemPay merchant account at merchant.modempay.com and copy the secret API key from Developers.
  2. Register the webhook URL below under Developers → Webhooks and copy the webhook signing secret - webhooks with an unverifiable x-modem-signature are rejected, so payments will never be credited without this.
  3. Use test/sandbox API keys (sk_test_...) until KYC is approved, then switch to live keys (sk_live_...) from the dashboard.

Configuration requirements

Enter these values in the matching gateway settings. Obtain credentials from the provider and keep them private.

Secret API Key Required
Sent as the Bearer token when creating payment intents. Starts with sk_test_ or sk_live_.
Webhook Signing Secret Required
Required. Webhooks with an unverifiable x-modem-signature are rejected, so payments will never be credited without this.
Currency Required
Must match the collection currency configured on your ModemPay merchant account.
Webhook URL Optional
Register in the ModemPay dashboard under Developers → Webhooks to receive payment notifications.
